New Eagle offers two embedded data logger solutions which both provide the capability for event data recording, and vehicle / system monitoring at a reasonable cost.
VeeCAN320 Data Logger
This logger utilizes a USB 2.0 stick for data storage and effortless data retrieval. Two CAN channels are provided, preconfigured to 250K and 500k, with logging at rates up to 1ms to make this device is an ideal choice for most CAN bus environments. While the unit can function without user intervention, an interface button is provided to allow for multiple logging sessions. This data logging device can survive in the harshest environments due to its robust components.
Features
CAN data logging
Logging CAN bus data to a USB stick
Provides 2 CAN channels for data logging
Configurable Settings
CAN Baud Rates (CAN1 and CAN2 can be set independently)
Log Mode and Slot Size
Analog Rate
Data Logging is limited only by the size of USB 2.0 stick (sold separately)
Logging is started automatically when USB stick is plugged in, also starts on power-up if stick is in place
Logging session is controlled via a button
Capable of logging at rate of 1ms
Logs 7 analog input voltages
RS232 interface (available for custom logging applications)
320*240 pixel color display for real-time displaying logging status
10V-32V DC Powered
Save data as text files, this allows the users to import data into excel or matlab.
The Raptor VeeCAN 320 Datalogging Library is ideal for implementing the VeeCAN Data Logger using Raptor software. Raptor users will appreciate the ease of creating a utility that logs CAN messages from the Raptor controller.
The logger utilizes standard SD cards for data storage making it easy to retrieve data for applications including Event Data Logging (EDR). This device is capable of logging at rates of 1ms, making it an ideal choice for any CAN bus environment. Built in key switch detection and keep-alive circuitry ensure clean shutdowns and proper file closures.
Features
CAN data logging
Easily log CAN bus data to an SD card
Utilize configuration files to limit desired data or change CAN bus speed
Can log in a circular buffer method to keep most recent data when card is full, to function as an Event Data Recorder (Black Box).
Data logging is limited only by the size of the SD card, right now 16GB cards are the largest supported.
Real-time clock with battery backup providing date/time information for log files
Firmware updates via SD Card
Optional key switch detection
Optional Configurable warning horn
Status LED’s
State of Health
SD Card Presence and data logging
Indicators for CAN Tx/Rx Traffic and Bus errors
The log file is a text file format that lists all the CAN messages. This allows the user to import the data into excel or other programs.
Choosing Between the VeeCAN320 Data Logger and the Low-Cost Data Logger
Built on a more capable hardware platform, the VeeCAN320 Data Logger has additional features and may provide better performance compared to the Low-cost Data Logger in your application. Also, for the VEECAN320 logger, customization is available to more closely tailor the logging application to your needs.
Low-Cost CAN Data Logger
VeeCAN320 Data Logger
SD card storage, 16GB cards are the largest size supported
USB stick storage, no size limitation (although 16GB recommended)
Utilize key switch to control the logging session, only one logging session allowed in a key cycle
Logger can function without user intervention, an interface button is provided to allow for multiple logging sessions in one key cycle
Only one CAN channel is available
Two CAN channels are available, allow users to log data on both CAN channels at the same time
CAN based collection only
Standard collection is from CAN, but customization is available to utilize the discrete I/O on the VeeCAN 320 display
Logging status is indicated by LEDs
Provide big colorful display for real-time showing logging status
Data Logger Translation Software
New Eagle offers translator software for both the CAN data logger and the VeeCAN 320 data logger that translates the MEL raw CAN format on USB stick/SD card into engineering values using a DBC file.
Also, this translator software can translate CANKIng format data.
You can purchase it immediately on our web store or request a trial from contact us.
For more information or request a trial, please contact us
How To Use It:
This software is easily to use, open it, use "Browse" to choose DBC file and data file (.MEL or .txt), respectively, then click "Convert". After a few seconds, the MEL raw data will be translated into engineering values.
Other Option to CDL:
The mel raw data file is a text file, which is formatted so that it can be easily imported into Matlab or Excel, the user needs to create scripts to translate the raw data (hex value) into engineering values.
